Laura Lee Higginbotham of McKinney, Texas passed away December 27, 2020 at the age of 74. She was born on October 14, 1946 to Billy Joe Bates and Helen (Evans) Bates in Collin County, Texas. Laura was a graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, Texas. She married the late Billy Joe “B.J.” Higginbotham on July 17, 1965 in McKinney. Laura worked for several places including Collin’s Radio and McKinney Title. She later went to work for the Collin County Clerk’s Office in April of 1991 and served as Deputy County Clerk for 25 years before retiring in October of 2015. Laura loved her family dearly. Her family will miss the birthday and Christmas cards that she faithfully sent.
She is survived by her daughter, Monica Love and husband, Teddy; sons, Doug Higginbotham and Jeff Higginbotham; six granddaughters, Amber Burgess and husband, Jaron, Erika Voth and husband, Chance, Brook Higginbotham, Sobriety Hicks and husband, Kenny, Cheyann Higginbotham, and Mena Gonzales; seven great-grandchildren, Brynli Burgess, Kyler Burgess, Peyton Voth, Avery Groves, Alyssa Hicks, Aubrey Hicks, and Torsten Hicks; five siblings, Bill Bates and wife, Carol, Terry Bates and wife, Patsy, Ronnie Bates and wife, Donna, Cathie Grubb and husband, John, and Keith Bates; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B. J. Higginbotham, parents, Joe and Helen Bates.
In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the funeral service.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. After the service, the recorded live stream will also be available for viewing at the same link location.
However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Laura and show their support to her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.
A “come and go” visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing and masks will be required.
