Laura Blackburn, age 85, of Dallas, Texas, passed away May 26, 2009, in Allen. Laura was born September 4, 1923 in Parker, Texas to Grafton and Bertie (Strain) Williams. She graduated from Plano High School in 1941 and then moved to Dallas where she resided for over sixty years. Laura worked as an office manager for Morris Fowler for fifty years and owned the Laura Blackburn Travel Club for twenty-five years. She was also a member of Elmwood United Methodist Church in Oak Cliff for many years. She is survived by her son, James (Jim) Blackburn and his wife, Dale of Plano, Texas; step-son, Kenneth Blackburn of Cedar Hill, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Blackburn and his wife, Kay and Belinda Pruitt and her husband, Kevin; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hsu, Trinity Blackburn, Addison Blackburn, Morgan Pruitt, and Mason Pruitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Margaret Hogge and Alice Brunson, and brother, John Williams. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday evening.
