Larry Keith Magers

Mr. Larry Keith Magers, age 44, of McKinney, Texas, lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on April 4, 2006, in Dallas, Texas. He was born October 4, 1961, in McKinney to Olvey H. and Maggie (Harvey) Magers. On January 22, 1994, he married Donna Jean Miller in Melissa, Texas. Mr. Magers was a lifelong resident of McKinney who was loved and admired by everyone who knew him. He graduated from McKinney High School in 1980 and was a member of the 1979 McKinney Lions State Championship football team. He attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma and Collin County Community College District. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Melissa where he served as a deacon and was on the praise team. He is survived by his wife, Donna Magers of McKinney, Texas; son, Stephen Magers of Van Alstyne, Texas; daughter, Kati Magers of McKinney, Texas; son, Caleb Cave of McKinney, Texas; uncle, Lee Goins of Merit, Texas; brother, Thom Magers of Greenville, Texas; sisters, Edna Otts of McKinney, Texas, Betty Morgan of North Carolina, Donnie Gilmore of Daingerfield, Texas, and Kathy Sander of Merit, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends. His parents, Olvey and Maggie Magers, and brother, Steve Harrison preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M., Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the First Baptist Church, Melissa, Texas, with Rev. Trey Graham and Rev. Morgan Malone officiating. Pallbearers will be the McKinney Lions 1979 State Championship football team and coaches. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Melissa or the American Cancer Society.
