Larry Lee Best, of Allen, Texas, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on March 10, 1949, in South Haven, Michigan, to Donald E. Best and Norma B. Whiteman.
He spent his childhood in Elkhart, Indiana, where he cultivated lifelong friendships and a deep appreciation for community. A proud graduate of Elkhart High School, Class of 1967, Larry continued his education at Purdue University, earning an associate’s degree in computer science.
Professionally he worked for many years as a marketing director in the computer software field, where he helped guide organizations through a rapidly changing technological landscape. He later established Sandalrock, LLC, where he played an instrumental role in franchising Aaron’s Rent to Own. His colleagues remember him as a thoughtful mentor and an innovative thinker who approached challenges with determination and integrity.
On June 21, 1969, Larry married the love of his life, Pamela Ann Teige, in Elkhart, Indiana. Their marriage of more than 56 years was a testament to devotion and partnership. Together they built a beautiful life anchored in love, mutual respect, and shared values.
Larry was a man of faith, with strong moral convictions. He attended the local Methodist church in each of the communities he lived. His commitment to service, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of many.
Larry had a profound sense of patriotism which was often displayed in action and deed. His love of history and country was instrumental in his life often resulting in choosing vacation destinations. Over the years he was able to visit every state and nearly all the national parks. Above all, what was most important to Larry was family. Sunday gatherings were precious and the highlight of his day.
He is survived by wife Pamela Best of Allen, Texas; daughter, Angela Best Rotello and husband, Paul of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Sherry Best Hines and husband, Stephen of Frisco, Texas; son, Brad Best and wife, Patra of Stafford, Virginia; grandson Radd Rotello and wife, Tawny; grandson, Jackson Rotello; granddaughter, Madeleine Hines; grandson, Preston Hines; great grandson, William Rotello; great granddaughter, Ava Rotello; brother, Richard “Dick” Best and wife, Karyn of Greer, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Suellen Best of Tryon, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Norma Best and brother, Donald Best, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St Andrew Methodist Church - Hasley Chapel, 5811 West Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas 75093. Light refreshments will be provided.
