Larry Lavoy Strain, of Celina, Texas, went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2019, at the age of 70. He was born on September 8, 1948, to Lavoy and Edwina (Langton) Strain in Dallas, Texas. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Larry was also a Mason.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Sherry Gail Strain-Bates and husband, Ralph D. Jr. of Frisco, Texas; son, Larry Douglas Strain of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Strain of Brownsboro, Texas; Ryleigh, Trevor and Taylor Bates of Frisco, Texas; great-grandchild, Gracie Strain; brother Rodney Strain of Waxahachie, Texas; and sister Lanette Strain of Waxahachie, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lavoy and Edwina (Langton) Strain, and brother Rickey Strain. Larry was loved dearly by family and friends and will be forever missed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2019, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 318 Lanier Road, Combine, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 109 S. Oklahoma Street, Celina, Texas.
