Larry Joe Schoonover passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023, in Plano, Texas at the age of 73. He was born on September 20, 1949, in Maryville, Missouri to D. Dale Schoonover and Marjorie Marie Fay.
Larry was a graduate of Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, Texas. He received a bachelor’s degree from East Texas State University and a master’s degree in finance from Southern Methodist University. He worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as a Senior Bank Examiner for 37 years until his retirement in 2016.
Larry loved to cook and spend time with his family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor and fun-loving nature. Christmas was a special holiday for Larry, and he enjoyed all the traditions of the season. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Stars. Larry was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Donna Schoonover of Plano, Texas; children, Ashley Wilson (Andrew) of Atlanta, Georgia, Sarah DiDonato (Ron) of Allen, Texas, Beth Beckcom (Jody) of Boerne, Texas, and Kathleen Stokes (Stanton) of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Nicholas Wilson, Lily DiDonato, Stella DiDonato, Ava DiDonato, Huxley Beckcom, Weston Beckcom, Henry Stokes, Eleanor “Nellie” Stokes, Sigmund Stokes, and baby boy Stokes expected in the coming weeks; twin sister, Linda Ferrell (Billy) of San Antonio, Texas; niece, Amy Rule and family of Bulverde, Texas; nephew Mark Ferrell and family of Canyon Lake, Texas; aunt, Jean Fay of Memphis, Tennessee, as well as many other loving family and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
