Larry Don Neel of McKinney, Texas passed away on November 5, 2018 at the age of 52. He was born on January 2, 1966 to Max Donald and Shirley Kay (Wright) Neel in McKinney, Texas. Larry had a natural musical talent. He loved to play the piano and saxophone and was the Drum Major at McKinney High School. Larry attended East Texas State University, now Texas A & M Commerce. He wrote and produced numerous musicals for McKinney Summer Musicals and the Christian Community. Larry traveled and performed with the Calvary Boys Quartet. He was a former member of Hillcrest Christian Church in McKinney, where he became the choir director at the age of 12. Larry was currently a member of First Christian Church in McKinney where he served as the music director. He adored his nieces and nephews.
Larry is survived by his sister, Pam Ward and husband, Jimmy Don of Blue Ridge, Texas; nephews, Jimmy Don Ward, Jr. of Sapupla, Oklahoma and Kelly Ward of Blue Ridge, Texas; great-nephews, Skyler and Kelton Ward of Lubbock, Texas; great-niece, Kailey Coonrod and husband, Caleb Coonrod of Denton, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends including his church family at First Christian Church in McKinney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Shirley Kay Neel.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at First Christian Church, 1800 W. Hunt, McKinney, Texas 75069 with Rev. Kayla Coffee-Prose officiating.
