On Saturday, February 27th, 2021, Lachlan Blair Hart of Celina, Texas, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 88.
Lachlan was born on November 30, 1932 in Delavan Township, Minnesota to Everett William (E.W.) and Frances (Kantack) Hart. Lachlan learned to play the bagpipes from his father and gave his first public performance around the age of 10. He later joined his father’s bagpipe band, The Camp Mor Kilties.
After high school, he joined the Air Force Marching Band Drum and Bugle Corps. During the Korean War, they traveled all over the world as ambassadors for the United States. After leaving the Air Force, he went to Mankato State College and then became an insurance adjuster.
He was always telling stories from his life growing up on the farm, although he could never bring himself to return to the cold northern winters after he moved to Florida. In Florida, he met and married Carole Louise Shockey on May 30, 1975. They lived in Ft. Myers for over 40 years, developing many cherished friendships, before moving to Texas.
Above all else, Lachlan was a generous friend and an inveterate storyteller. Long drives to school were filled with dinosaur stories, bedtimes featured daring escapes from the bull Sycamore Sunburst, and even the most trivial event could be spun into a thirty minute tale.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Hart of Celina, Texas; children Virginia Prey and husband, Ken of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sarah Damstedt and husband, Benjamin of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Andrew Hart and wife, Taralyn of Celina, Texas; grandchildren, Lachlan Prey, Garrett Prey, Annika Damstedt, Eli Damstedt, Tyler Hart, Adriana Hart, Kaylee Hart, Samantha Hart, and Caleb Hart; sisters, Frances Jean Hart and Kathryn Milne; and three nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.W. and Frances Hart.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, March 5, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas 75033. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033.
