Kinney Lee Sanders

Kinney Lee Sanders of Dallas, Texas passed away June 12, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born on January 2, 1934 to Robert Sanders and Louise (Kinney) Sanders in Commerce, Georgia. Kinney was a 1955 graduate of the University of Miami, where he was the starting pitcher for the Miami Hurricanes baseball team. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1958. Afterwards, Kinney began a 45-year career as an executive in the life insurance industry. In addition to baseball, he was an avid, life-long golfer and was a former member of Gleneagles Country Club and Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Kinney is survived by his son, Tony Sanders and wife, Sue of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Lisa Lautner and partner Heidi Brunet of Bald Head Island, North Carolina and Lori Jay and husband, Erik of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Robert Gregory Lautner, Katherine Leigh Sanders and Morgan Nicole Lautner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Altann Theresa Sanders (2004) and his son, Gregory John Sanders (1969).

He leaves behind his partner, Carol Bogue of Dallas, Texas. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Bogue family, especially Scott Bogue for their assistance and kindness over the last years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care in Dallas, Texas.
