Kim Tao-Chung Chang

Kim Tao-Chung Chang, aged 44, of Plano, Texas, was born to Wei Chin and Rose Chang in Logan, Utah on May 20, 1971, and passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2016, in Kyoto, Japan. 

He spent his happy childhood in Tapei, Taiwan, and then returned to the United States to attend high school.  While at The University of Texas at Austin, Kim met his future wife, Fung Chen, whom he married on June 27, 1998.  He graduated from UT with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1993.  Kim then attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996.  An innovative engineer, he was awarded numerous patents during his career.  Most lately, he was employed at Huawei Technologies in Plano as the Senior Director of Standards.

Kim developed many friendships in Taiwan and even started a band there with his buddies, called YAG.  He was a free spirited man who enjoyed many hobbies, music, sports, and loved his family and friends.  Kim was a passionate collector of watches, model cars, and guitars.  He was a sports car enthusiast and was an avid member of the Ingress game community.  Kim was an easy going, open-minded man, a very good listener, and was truly loved by all who knew him.  He will be greatly missed.

Kim is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Fung Chang; daughter, Iris Chang; parents, Wei Chin and Rose Chang; sister, Christine Chang Hopkins and her husband Eric Hopkins; parents-in-law, Ching Yen and Ching-Yi Chen; sister-in-law, Fen Chen and her husband Jim Wang; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday evening, April 2, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
