Reverend K.I. Koruthu

Reverend K. I. Koruthu of Allen, Texas passed away on April 23, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born into the Pakalomattom-Thazhamon Kidanginathu family on December 31, 1932 to Ittyerah and Rachel Koruthu in Ranny, Kerala, India. He was the eldest son among eight siblings. Rev. Koruthu married Saramma John (Varakunnel-Kaduvakuzhiyl family) on September 6, 1952. After completing his education and training, he pursued a career in teaching from 1955 to 1967. During this time, he served in many leadership positions for the Pentecostal Young People’s Association (PYPA). He was also instrumental in writing the biography of the late reverend K. E. Abraham, the founder of India Pentecostal Church (IPC). In 1967, his passion for ministry led him to migrate to San Antonio, Texas and continue his higher education in theology. In 1973, after completing his education, he returned to Kerala, received ordination from IPC, and served as a pastor to many churches in the Ranny district. During that year, he also established South Indian Bible College in Ranny (1973-1989), and equipped over 300 individuals to become ministers of the gospel around the world. In 1978, after returning to the United States, he pioneered the IPC movement by establishing a church in Dallas, Texas. He served as an active leader and patron of North Dallas Church of God since 1985. He lived with his family in the Plano-Allen area until he was promoted to glory.

Rev. Koruthu is survived by his wife, Saramma Koruthu; daughter, Molly Iype and husband, Rev. Babu Iype; sons Jose Koruthu and wife, Belsy, Tom Koruthu and wife, Daisy, and James Koruthu and wife, Gigi; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, 1 sister and their families.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Thankamma Easo, and grandson, Christopher Shawn Iype.

Rev. Koruthu will be remembered for his leadership, accomplishments, and passion for the Lord. He will be greatly missed.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety, and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

The funeral service will also be live streamed on Monday, April 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page as well as on the Provision TV website, and a recorded video will be available following the funeral service on Rev. Koruthu’s obituary page. A private interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park following the funeral service.
