Kerry Jo Kraushaar Duty, 40, of McKinney, Texas, passed away at her home on September 25, 2020. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on March 4, 1980, to Dr. Philip and Sandra (DeHollander) Kraushaar, of Point of Rocks, Maryland. She excelled at music and dance from a young age and dedicated herself to many creative pursuits and academic endeavors.
Kerry attended Baylor University, where she met her future husband, Jonathan Duty, as he helped her move into her dorm room. They married four years later in Texas and moved to Michigan so Kerry could pursue her master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Michigan. She worked with endangered youth and children in need, touching countless lives with her generous heart and dedication. She was a devoted mother to Joshua (14) and Madison (11), and marveled at what kind, generous, and loving children they are.
She is survived by her husband Jonathan Duty, her children Joshua and Madison Duty, her parents Philip and Sandra, sisters Megan and Rachel, paternal grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal aunt, after whom she was named, her maternal grandparents, and her paternal grandfather.
Plans for a service will be announced at a later date and a memorial and celebration of her life will be held in Michigan at a later date. The family asks that donations be made in her name to her favorite charity, "The Samaritan Inn" in McKinney, Texas.
