Kerry Wayne Holland

Nov 30 1953 - Aug 28 2023

Kerry Wayne Holland of Farmersville, TX was born on November 30, 1953 in Corpus Christi, TX. He died on August 28, 2023 in Greenville, TX at the age of 69 years and 9 months.

Kerry was preceded in death by his father, Nelson L. “Poncho” Holland.

He is survived by his mother, Peggy Johnson of Farmersville, TX, siblings Mark Holland of Farmersville, TX, Keith Holland and wife Leslie of Jacksonville, FL, and Lisa Holland of Burleson, TX. Grandchildren, Whitney Hockett and Dillion Schelden of Commerce, TX, and Zach Dove of Quinlan, TX.

Kerry’s family moved to Farmersville in 1961 when he was in the second grade. He graduated from Farmersville High School in 1972. He was an outstanding athlete, receiving a football scholarship at Abilene Christian University. He was also active in Scouting where he developed his appreciation for the outdoors.

Kerry’s work ethic earned him the reputation of being able to do the work of two men. He was skilled with all forms of dirt moving, plumbing, and pipeline equipment. He was an exceptional gardener and rancher.

Kerry met life’s challenges with endurance and tenacity. He was able to survive cancer and even be declared cancer-free a couple of times before the unforgiving disease overcame his body’s defenses.

Kerry had the ability to connect with all living things wherever he was. From Collin County, Texas to Europe, Kerry made friends with people of all ages and animals of all kinds.

He was a tall man with a huge heart and would share his last dollar with anyone who he believed needed it more. He often visited the woods and creeks of southeastern Oklahoma for his rest. He found great joy and peace conducting his “walk abouts,” with the cattle across, “God’s Country.” His name for the east Texas prairie he called home.
