Kenneth Carl "Pete" Flanagan

Kenneth Carl “Pete” Flanagan of Leonard, Texas passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 23, 2021, at the age of 84. He was born on July 14, 1937, to JT Flanagan and Lelia Evans Flanagan in Delba, Texas. Pete met the love of his life, Leveta White, at 8 years old. He married Leveta on May 19, 1956, in Leonard, Texas, sharing 65 years and 7 months of love and memories together.

Pete committed 40 years to the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Bonham. During Pete’s free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling to all 50 states. He was also involved in missionary work to Old Mexico and the Philippines.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Leveta Flanagan of Leonard, Texas; daughters, Melinda Campbell and husband, Dwain, and Connie Pickering and husband, Chris; son, Rickey Flanagan and wife, Cheri; grandchildren, Adriane Howard and husband, Wes, Kristen Molina and husband, David, Nick Campbell and wife, Kimberly, Danny Len Hodge, Darren Hodge, Darryl Hodge and wife, Monica, Meredith Hodge, Michael Flanagan, and Michelle Magargee and husband, Adam; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Flanagan; sisters, Dois LaGrone, Wanda Crehan, Faye Grounds, and Dolores Hutchins and husband, Roy; sister-in-laws, Barabara Flanagan, Lola Flanagan, Ruby Polston and husband, Jerry, Evelyn Wright and husband, Bud, Dorothy Gray, Verna Busby and spouse, Carol, Lita White, and Frances Hamilton; brother-in-laws, Kenneth White and wife, Betty, George White, and O.H. Nolen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JT and Lelia Flanagan; parent-in-laws, Nick and Effie White; brothers, Royce, Coy, and Floyd; sisters, Nell, Mary, and Dorothy; brother-in-laws, Marshall Gray, Troy Hamilton, Jack Clark, Glen Grounds, Joel Pitts, La Doil White and Curtis LaGrone; sister-in-laws, Velma Clark, Letha Flanagan, and Lois Flanagan; nephew, Robert Watson; and great-grandson, Bryce Hodge.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at First United Methodist Church, 206 North Main Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. Family will welcome family and friends during a visitation an hour prior to the service. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Leonard Cemetery for a committal service.

Pallbearers for Pete’s service are Danny Len Hodge, Darren Hodge, Darryl Hodge, Nick Campbell, Michael Flanagan, and Landry Nolen.
