Kenneth Welch of Telephone, Texas passed away August 30, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born October 26, 1935 to Ira Milton Welch and Idell (Conrad) Welch in Dewey, Oklahoma. Ken graduated from high school in Wheaton, Missouri in 1954. He worked various jobs before enlisting in the United States Army. Ken served his country from 1962 – 1964 in Berlin, Germany during the Korean conflict. He married Mary Lou Jordan on July 1, 1972 at the First Christian Church in Allen, Texas. Ken was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Plano and Allen and served in various positions. He owned his own business, Ken’s Electric Motor Service, for 20 years in Plano, Texas. Ken enjoyed many hobbies such as jewelry making, listening to gospel music albums, and collecting John Deere memorabilia. He was also an avid reader.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Welch of Telephone, Texas; son, Kyle Welch of Allen, Texas; brothers, Gary Welch and wife, Darlene of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Stanley Welch and wife, Joyce of Texarkana, Texas; brother in law, Bob McKnight of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; sister in law, Linda Welch of Kearney, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ira and Idell Welch; sisters, Lucille Welch, Kay McKnight, and Joy Hucks and husband, Don; and brother, Wayne Welch.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at First Christian Church Plano, 813 East 15th Street, Plano, Texas 75074. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
