Kenneth Covington

Kenneth Covington, age 91, of Lucas, Texas, passed away on July 29, 2009. He was born on April 29, 1918 to Herbert D. and Lula (Reynolds) Covington in Clarksville, Arkansas. On September 17, 1941 he married Ruth Lewis in San Francisco, California. Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He worked for Continental Bakery Company, Langendorf Baking Company and Pisano French Bread all in San Francisco, California. He was a plant manager for Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake in Seattle Washington. Upon retiring, he was a bus driver for several years in the Allen Independent School District and was awarded a lifetime membership to the PTA. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in San Francisco as well as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Allen. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Covington of Lucas, Texas; son, Jack Covington and wife Audrey of Lucas, Texas; daughter, Deanna Tonks and husband Larry of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Lisa White of Virginia, Eden Jamison of Portland, Oregon, Krista Hatley of Johnson City, Tennessee, Eric Covington of Wylie, Texas and David Telfer of Reno, Nevada; eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Del and grandson, Kenny. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Allen, Texas with Rev. June Franck officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
