IN LOVING MEMORY

Kenneth Sutton

Apr 20 1930 - Apr 09 2019

Kenneth B. Sutton of Allen, Texas went to his Heavenly Home on April 9, 2019. He was a good and faithful servant.  Kenneth was born Easter morning, April 20, 1930, to Zacharia Lyn Sutton and Clara (Colclasure) Sutton in Elk City, Oklahoma.  In his youth, Kenneth’s family moved often as Zacharia was a Singer sewing machine salesman; they lived in many small towns in Oklahoma and in the Rio Grande valley in south Texas. After graduating high school, Kenneth performed rope tricks on horseback with two friends, and they were known by the show name of “Two Bucks and a Doe”. However, Kenneth realized that he couldn’t earn a living in that profession, so he started working in the natural gas industry.  Kenneth married Myra Jane Lamont in 1955, and they were married 60 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and he was so proud of his family.

During Kenneth’s 37 years of working for Natural Gas Pipeline Company, now Occidental Petroleum, the family lived in Colorado, New Mexico, California, Alabama and several locations in Texas.  After retiring as Measurement Superintendent over the South Texas Region, they moved from Wharton, Texas to Fort Worth, Texas and finally to Allen, Texas. Throughout his life, Kenneth always took care of people, both family and friends.  He always said, “You can tell so much about a person by the way he/she treats the elderly, babies and animals”. Willingly and lovingly, Kenneth gave aid to all of them.  In the past few years, he loved traveling. His trips included family trips, many hunting trips to South Texas, Nevada and Kansas, school graduations in El Paso, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada, family reunions at Lake Tahoe and touring the Calgary Stampede.  Kenneth enjoyed an Alaskan cruise coupled with an Alaskan road trip which included a fly-in visit to Denali National Park seeing the summit of Mt. McKinley and landing on Ruth Glacier.  Kenneth was an excellent marksman and enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his son, Craig  Sutton and wife, Amy of Parker, Texas; grandsons,  Zachary Sutton and fiancée,  Katie Mason of Dallas, Texas and  Austin Sutton and wife, Megan of Norman, Oklahoma; granddaughter,  Lindsey Sutton Wills and husband, David of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Pat Sutton of San Antonio, Texas;  many adoring nieces and nephews; and four beloved dogs.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Myra Sutton; daughter Valeria, brother, Harrold Sutton and sister, June Sutton Whiteside.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pratt, Kansas.  Interment will follow at Turon Cemetery in Turon, Kansas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening April 11, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt, Kansas.

The family would like to thank Harris Hospice of Lewisville, Texas and Cerna Home Care of Dallas, Texas for their loving care.
