IN LOVING MEMORY

Ken Sirmen

Jun 14 1948 - Feb 15 2020

The man. The myth. The legend. Kenneth Wayne Sirmen (71) entered the kingdom of heaven on February 15, 2020 for a reunion with family and friends he had not seen in a long time - including Samim I. Sirmen and Dolores (Nicholson) Sirmen who became his proud parents on June 14, 1948.

Ken shared his zest for life and love for Jesus with wife, Linda who he married on April 19, 1986 in Plano, Texas. They moved to a beautiful home in New Hope where he cherished his time with Linda raising goats and chickens, cooking, sipping wine by the firepit. Ken and Linda also shared a love of dogs, cats and horses and considered their home a haven for animals. Ken loved being a beloved grandpa and fishing with his sons. He also had a love affair with chocolate uncovered by a trail of candy wrappers. He grilled a mean steak and enjoyed a good martini, shaken not stirred. He was an entertainer of sorts, literally the life of every party or gathering, great at making people laugh, generous, super sweet, witty and kind and all the other endearing adjectives you can think of. Other words that might describe Ken include rascal, joker, prankster, and mischievous. What most will remember about Ken is that he loved to tell stories. And you could be sure 50% of every story was true. You just never knew which 50. And that’s 100% true. Even after the Parkinson’s had robbed Ken of his ability to talk, he was the favorite at Harbor Chase assisted living with staff and residents alike. We attribute that to his mischievous grin and sparkling eyes. He had an undeniable and incredible aura.

When it came to sales, Ken was one of the best in the business; no surprise there considering his larger-than-life personality. He was a hero of sorts at Tech Plan where he worked as one of the top salesman for more than 30 years. And he was a hero to his sons, De and Damion that he loved dearly.

Ken was a prince and a fighter and had an incredible joy for life. Up until the end his positive outlook and sense of humor remained with him – his memories shared, funnies made and his laugh abounding. Ken will be remembered as a sparkling and burning light that illumined, inspired, and brought great joy to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His energy and spirit will live on in us, and we will forever be grateful for his presence in our lives.

Ken is survived by his wife, Linda Sirmen of McKinney, Texas; sons, De St. Aubin and wife, Cory of New Hope, Texas and Damion St. Aubin and wife, Stephanie of Celina, Texas; grandchildren, Whitney, Dalton, Cooper, Cash, Teagan; and sisters, Susan Morton of Scottsdale, Arizona and Lori Sirmen of Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Sirmen; and sister, Cindy Mallams.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. A reception will follow at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, apdaparkinson.org
