IN LOVING MEMORY

Kelsey Bond Lichtenauer

May 08 2003 - Jan 14 2025

Kelsey Bond Lichtenauer, age 21, of McKinney, Texas, a beacon of kindness and joy to all who knew her, died on January 14, 2025, in San Marcos, Texas. She was born on May 8, 2003 in Plano, Texas to Thomas and Kristin Lichtenauer.

Kelsey graduated from Allen High School in 2021 and was a senior at Texas State University, where she will be posthumously awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. Her dream job after graduation was going to be helping newly-diagnosed type 1 diabetic children and their families navigate the challenging roller coaster of living with this cruel 24-7 disease. Kelsey was diagnosed T1D when she was 8 years old and courageously battled it for 13 years until the disease ultimately took her life. Though her life was tragically cut short, her personal courage and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Kelsey always marched to the beat of her own drum. She loved anything K-pop, Five Seconds of Summer, Harry Styles, and spending time with her rainbow of close friends, her sister, Kayden, and her cat, Boo. Her favorite pastimes included traveling in Europe (especially Amsterdam), coloring books, family Canasta battles, Jessica’s mashed potatoes, and watching endless hours of other people playing video games on YouTube.

She is survived by her mother (Kristin Lichtenauer), father (Thomas Lichtenauer), sister (Kayden Lichtenauer), grandmother (Beverly Bond), uncles (Kyle Bond, Steve Lichtenauer), aunts (Amber Bond, Karen O’Brien, Jennie Lichtenauer, Jean Chorazyczewski), and cousins (Emmy Bond, Andrew Lichtenauer, Charles Lichtenauer, Daniel Lichtenauer, and John Lichtenauer) who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers (Kent Bond, Robert Lichtenauer) and grandmother (Catharine Lichtenauer).

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/kelsey-bond-lichtenauer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Kelsey’s memory to https://www2.breakthrought1d.org/site/TR?fr_id=9878&pg=personal&px=2286094

"As Harry Styles once said, 'Treat people with kindness'—a mantra Kelsey embodied every day of her life."
