Kelly Jean Gray Rogers passed away in Dallas, Texas on April 19, 2023 at 62. She was born on October 31, 1960 to W.S. and Jereen Gray in Lubbock, Texas. Kelly was a 1979 graduate of Lamesa High School in Lamesa, Texas.
She was a member of the Waterview Church of Christ where she was baptized on August 27, 2014.
Kelly worked at K&M Beauty Supply in Midland, Texas for many years before she moved to Dallas. Her love of horticulture, plants, and gardening led her to Calloways Nursery where she earned her Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional title before becoming a store manager at multiple locations across the Dallas metroplex.
She was kind, fun-loving, artistic, and generous to a fault. Kelly always thought of others first and loved her family and friends very well. She had a never give up attitude that allowed her to accomplish all that she set her mind to (especially if she was told it couldn’t be done).
Kelly loved the outdoors and always enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing. She was an avid Nascar fan (go Jeff Gordon!!) and especially loved her cats. Kelly loved to bake and make platters of delicious goodies in abundance to give to family, friends, and co-workers every Christmas. She perfected her Black Forest Cheesecake that she was well known for by her family and friends.
Kelly was preceded in death by her father, W. S. “Dub” Gray and stepfather, Bill Barron, both of Lamesa, Texas.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenny Rogers of 21 years. They were married on November 17, 2001 in Richardson, Texas. Kelly is lovingly remembered by her mother, Jereen Gray Barron of Cleburne, Texas (formerly Lamesa, Texas; siblings, Nancy Gray Rector of Kerrville, Texas, Steve Gray of Burleson, Texas, Monte Gray of Burleson, Texas, Tracy Gray of Cleburne, Texas, Kristi Gray Popin of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews, Robin Rector Harrel and husband, Lance of Kerrville, Texas, Justin Gray and fiancé, Brie of Cleburne, Texas, Laurel Popin of Dallas, Texas; great-niece, Lexi Harrel of Kerrville, Texas; sister-in-law, Darla Schrader of Wichita, Kansas; step-siblings, B.J.
