Kay Penn McCormick, of Plano, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2026, at the age of 77. She was born on September 8, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, to Roy Lee Penn and Sylvia Joy Penn (Karnaghan).
Kay was a graduate of W.T. White High School, Class of 1967. She dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for those she cherished most.
Kay had a deep love for sports, especially as an avid fan of the Dallas Stars, and she truly enjoyed the excitement of hockey. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her beloved dogs. Kay adored many pets throughout her life, with Maggie and Daisy holding especially dear places in her heart. She had a fondness for Chihuahuas and Dachshunds, which were her favorite breeds.
Kay is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, William H. McCormick; her sons, Michael and wife Leslie McCormick, J.P. McCormick, and Michael Penter; her cherished granddaughters, Caia and husband Clayton Halpin, and Penny McCormick; her sisters, Carol Lummus, and Sylvia and husband Blanfard Perry; and her nieces, Maria Lummus, and April and husband Eric Jupiter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lee Penn and Sylvia Joy Penn.
Kay will be remembered for her love of family, her devotion to her pets, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
