Katherine “Kathy” Brooks Martin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 3, 2025, at the age of 66, in Allen, Texas.
Kathy was born on October 7, 1958, in Paducah, Kentucky, to George Edward Brooks and Evelyn (Pinkerton) Brooks. She was raised in Paducah and was a proud graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. Kathy earned her associate’s degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.
Her early career led her to Dallas, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Terry Michael Martin. They were married for over 40 wonderful years, creating a life filled with love and cherished moments. Kathy and Terry welcomed their sons, Tim in 1985 and Nick in 1988, and soon after, they made Allen, Texas, their forever home.
Kathy dedicated herself to caring for her family, creating a nurturing and loving environment for her children. She was deeply involved in her sons' activities, serving as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and volunteering with the PTA. Family was always her top priority, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially spoiling her granddaughters.
An avid gardener, Kathy had a beautiful garden that she took great pride in. She also loved family trips to Padre Island, where fun filled memories were made. Kathy’s vibrant personality and infectious smile brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. She will be fondly remembered; her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Terry Michael Martin of Allen, Texas; sons, Tim Martin and wife, Dayla of Dewey, Oklahoma and Nick Martin and fiancée, Chrissy Childers of McKinney, Texas; granddaughter, Willow Martin; brother, Gary Brooks and wife, Andrea of Taylorsville, Kentucky; sister, Gayle Brooks, also of Taylorsville, Kentucky; and a host of other loving family and cherished friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Maryanne Crawford.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
