Kathy Burkhalter, age 80, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. She was born on November 18, 1942, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Evelyn (Gray) and Philip John Calihan, Sr. Kathy married the love of her life, Fredrick Howard Burkhalter, in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 28, 1962. They enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2017. She utilized her many skills as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Kathy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, volunteering, bingo, Junior League of Plano, and playing cards, especially Mah-jongg. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all those who knew her.
Kathy is survived by her children, Fredrick P. Burkhalter and his wife, Lisa, of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Steven P. Burkhalter of Florida, Kristina E. Steinmetz and her husband, Steven, of Allen, Texas, and William J.P. Burkhalter and his wife, Jennifer, of Frisco, Texas; her grandchildren, Jason Greer, Katie Zarate (Antonio), Katie Hoff (Erik), Michael Steinmetz, Landry Burkhalter, and Reed Burkhalter; her great-granddaughter, Holly Lynae Hoff; her brother, Peter Calihan (Mary) of Phoenix, Arizona; her nieces, Katie and Molly; and her nephews, Dan, Kevin, Phil, Pat, Sean.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fredrick Howard Burkhalter, her parents Evelyn and Philip Calihan, Sr. and her brothers, Philip Calihan, Jr., and Patrick Calihan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco, Texas, on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Msgr. Leon Deusman. Interment at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Drive, Frisco, Texas.
