IN LOVING MEMORY

Katherine La Montagne Lunde

May 03 1947 - Dec 22 2024

Katherine LaMontagne Lunde was the only child of Dr. James LaMontagne and his wife of 17 years Frances Maas LaMontagne born in Kankakee, Illinois on May 3, 1947.

She spent her childhood mostly in the Chicago suburbs graduating from Oak Park River Forest High School in 1965. In 1969 after earning her bachelor’s degree in education, she moved to Florida for her naval aviator husband’s training, quickly started their family, and embarked on her career serving children.

During her children’s growing up years, she taught all ages in preschool with her kids who felt lucky to go to work with mom every day. She continued this family structure when the move was made to Plano, Texas in 1978.

In 1982, she was given the opportunity to become a preschool director. She adored her time pouring into hundreds of children, their families and the teachers during her 12 years at Westminster.

In 1994, she made the bold leap of faith following her passion for serving children. She became the first educational consultant in the Dallas metroplex. Creating her business from the ground up, she now had the freedom to support children with all different needs, of all ages, and all different learning styles to help them become the very best versions of themselves. She also supported the development of teachers within service days and keynotes at conferences locally, nationally and around the world.

In her spare time, she loved spending time with her kids – especially traveling – and most of all cruises. The adventures, the laughter, the ocean views, the sights and sounds of the different places are all cherished memories.

The day she passed away, she ran into the arms of Jesus for a huge welcome home celebration where she is reunited with her dad who passed away in 1961 as well as her mom, and numerous other friends and extended family members.

She is survived by her son, Wally; daughter, Lisa, and husband, Thad, the son she affectionately said she gave birth to and welcomed into our family when he was 25. We love you mom, and we will see you in heaven.

A Celebration Of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2024 at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Rd, Dallas, Texas 75220.
