Katherine “Kathy” Knight passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2023, in Sunnyvale, Texas, at the age of 78 after a 7-year battle with frontal temporal dementia. She was born to Roy and Georgie (Karr) Campbell on December 11, 1944 in Nevada, Texas.
Kathy married Bobby Knight at the First Christian Church in McKinney on May 29, 1968. She volunteered at nursing homes, helping with activities for the residents, and worked football and baseball concessions at Mesquite ISD for 15 years. Kathy enjoyed painting, decorating, and making jewelry. In addition, she was an avid collector of “antiques, jewelry, and decorative dishes.” She loved caring for her grandchildren, supporting them in all their activities, and talking with friends and family multiple times daily.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Bobby Knight of Mesquite, Texas, to whom she was married for 55 years; daughter, Carolyn Baker and husband, Brian of Sunnyvale, Texas; granddaughter, Brilyn Baker of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Brantly Baker of Sunnyvale, Texas; sister, Alasca Edwards of Princeton, Texas; sister, Jennie Weatherly of Whitesboro, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Roy and Georgie Campbell, brothers William and Leroy Campbell, and sister Grace Olds, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive guests for a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. An inurnment will take place at Rowlett Cemetery at a later time.
