Miss Katherine “Kate” Leigh McCook, age 22, of Allen, Texas, passed away October 28, 2010, in Dallas, Texas, after a courageous 2-1/2 year battle with cancer. Kate was born March 20, 1988, in Dallas, Texas, to Charles G. McCook and Nanci Smith McCook. She graduated in 2006, from Plano West High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader. She was also an accomplished gymnast and diver. Kate was attending Texas Tech, studying fashion design and merchandising. She was an avid Red Raider fan and attended Creekwood United Methodist Church. Kate is survived by her brothers, Kyle McCook of Plano, Garrett McCook of Allen and mother, Nanci Leigh McCook of Allen; father, Charles G. McCook and wife, Ann and their child, Zachary McCook of Parker, Texas; grandmother, Beverly Smith of Plano, Aunt Lona Smith of Rice, Texas, Uncle Peter and Aunt Debra McCook of Tyler, Texas; and several out of town family members. Kate is also survived by “Fat Cat-Milky Way” and other pets. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Creekwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Holly G. Bandel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors.
