IN LOVING MEMORY

Karolyn Layne (Hudson) Johnson

Sep 30 1952 - Apr 04 2021

Karolyn Layne (Hudson) Johnson, age 68, passed away peacefully April 4, 2021 after a sudden and unexpected illness. She was born to Gus and Jennie Lou Howard Hudson in McKinney, TX and lived there until her passing.

After graduating from McKinney High School, Karolyn held various jobs throughout her life. Her true calling, however, was caring for others. She had a servant heart as big as Texas and spent much of her free time caring for family or friends in need. She loved sending sweet cards and thoughtful letters. Her kindness, compassion and loyalty were her finest qualities. She selflessly cared for her parents until their passing. Karolyn was faithful to her Lord and was a regular worshipper.

Karolyn’s joys in life included spending time with her family loudly playing dominoes and drinking unsweetened tea and decaf diet cokes. She was a collector of many things, from whimsical S&P shaker sets to old hats and vintage tools. Her yard often held some of her treasures and at one time included a fully functioning windmill. She also loved music, some of which was played for her as the Lord was bringing her home.

She is survived by her beloved brothers, Larry Hudson and wife, Judy of Rowlett, Texas and Jim Hudson and wife, Julie of McKinney, Texas. Survivors also include her cherished nieces and nephews, Clay Hudson (Elizabeth), Colin Hudson (Vanessa), Drew Hudson, Sarah Hudson, and Meredith Brown (Bradley). Karolyn deeply loved them all to the moon and back and was proud of each and every member of her family. She was loved in return by them and by the many other members of her extended family. She will be forever missed.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to McKinney Community North Baptist Church or SPCA McKinney.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday, April 8, 2021 to pay their respects and to sign the register book.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2021 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
