Karl M. Staatz

Karl M. Staatz, 84, of Plano, Texas, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.   Karl was born January 26, 1933 in Tacoma, Washington to Doctor Karl S. and Mrs. Bessie D. (More) Staatz.  Karl graduated Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington and then obtained a BS from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California.  Karl loved animals and farming. His first ranch was Pinecrest Farms in Yelm Washington.  He raised Ayrshire dairy cows and loved showing his Championship Appaloosa horses.  Throughout the years he traveled with his animals to contests and fairs across the West and Mid-West states they were won numerous awards including several World Championships.   In 1978 he moved his family to Oregon and established the KS River ranch raising sheep and various crops.  In 1984 Karl moved the family to Plano Texas where he worked as a salesman and later owner of a vehicle transport company until his death. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Annette Staatz of Plano; sons Peter Staatz of Oregon, Karl Eric Staatz and his husband Royce Kilbourn of Rhode Island; daughter Susan Kirkpatrick of Iowa, grandchildren Sutherland Staatz, Elliott Staatz, Bethynie Bridges, Robin Mangum, great grandchildren Shaelynn Bridges and Benny Staatz, along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins. 

The family will receive friends during visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday February 20 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen Texas.  A memorial celebration and luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 21 at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas.
