Karin was born to the late Siegfried & Edeltraut “Trudy” Rist in Freden (Leine), Germany on February 15, 1950. When she was 2 years old, her family moved from Germany to Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Roseville High School in 1968 and attended Wayne State University in Detroit and later graduated from El Centro College in Dallas, Texas with a degree in nursing.
After college, she worked 40 years as a registered nurse before retiring. But her proudest accomplishment of all was her only child, Ben, and her three grandchildren whom she loved dearly. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to church, taking dance classes, driving her TransAm, painting, and scrapbooking. She was also an amazing cook and it brought her great joy to prepare delicious meals for her family.
A celebration of Karin’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Karin’s memory to Team Gleason Foundation www.teamgleason.org or the ALS Association www.als.org.
