IN LOVING MEMORY

Karen Marie Morris

Nov 06 1938 - Jun 19 2019

Karen Marie Morris of Little Elm, Texas passed away on June 19, 2019 at the age of 80.  She was born on November 6, 1938 to Lyle and Anna Mary (Fowler) Lewis in Estherville, Iowa.  God took one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever known to be by His side in Heaven. Today, she is reunited with my brother Rusty and her sister Nancy and her parents in Heaven. Karen Marie Morris wasn’t just Mom, or Grandma Karen, or Gran, she was all of those people and more. She was the person who raised me, guided me, mentored me, and always, always supported me. She was my biggest fan, always believed in me, and most of all, always cheered when I succeeded but picked me up when I failed. She put the foundation in place, and when the time was right, she handed me off to Gina to do the fine tuning, to smooth out the edges.  Mom was always there, no further than a phone call or a text away. I can’t imagine my life without her, yet today I have to figure that part out on my own. This much I know, Mom died happy and with a full heart. She never wanted for anything and always made do with what she had. She had friends scattered everywhere she ever lived. I am most grateful for her friends at Lakeside Manor – they looked after each other and Mom was happy for all of them to be in her life.

This past weekend, our whole family was together for the 3rd birthday party for our grand twins, Mom’s great grand twins. Mom loved her boys, cherished her grandkids, but her great grandchildren were the light of her life. Anyone who knew Karen, anyone she talked to, they heard about, or saw a picture of, Jaden and the Twins. Spending time with the Twins this last weekend filled her heart with joy.

Heaven received an angel. I miss my Mom, and these tears of sadness are filled with joy as well, because I know she’s happy, at peace, and without any pain. I am forever grateful for the life she gave me.

Karen is survived by her son, Stephen Moon and wife, Gina of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Brennan Moon  and partner, Meghann Cross of Krum, Texas, Miranda Taylor and husband, Coley of Temple, Texas, Melissa Wright and husband, Derek of Albuquerque, New Mexico; great grandchildren, Carly and Caleb Taylor, Jaden, Jonathan, and Tercilla Wright; sisters, Donna Jean Lewis of Friendswood, Texas, Marlene Heckenlaible of St. Francis, Minnesota, Janet Iverson and husband, Chuck of Mesquite, Nevada, and Mary Sadler and husband, Brian of Woonsocket, South Dakota; brother, Bob Lewis and partner, Connie Mitchell of Aurora, Minnesota; and numerous other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Anna Mary Lewis; son, Rusty Moon, and sister, Nancy Wallin.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Little Elm Area Food Bank.
