Karen (Smith) Griffin, loving wife, mother, grandmother, of McKinney, Texas passed away June 10, 2021 at the age of 59. She was born on April 6, 1962 to Albert Melvin Smith and Margie (Robertson) Smith in San Diego, California. Karen grew up in McKinney, Texas where she graduated from McKinney High School. She married Richard Earl Griffin on May 20, 1980 in McKinney. Karen worked for the local Walmart for 20 years as a customer service representative where she then retired, before that she was a nurse’s aide for 16 years. Karen was a member of the New Outreach Church of God in Christ in McKinney for 21 years. She was a financial secretary and served on the hospitality committee. Karen loved cooking, watching television and most of all, spending time with her grandkids.
Karen is survived by her husband of 29 years, Richard Earl Griffin; two children, Quatacia Wells and husband Alan, and Richard Smith and wife Brenda; 16 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mary Love, Camillie Hillard and Denise Smith; and 1 brother, Albert Melvin Smith, Jr..
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Margie Smith.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at New Outreach Church of God in Christ, 506 Wilcox Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
