Karen Sue Ingersoll, 55, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 7, 2016 in the comfort of her home in The Colony, Texas. She was born July 6, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Barbara E Ingersoll. Karen graduated from Rich East High School in 1979 in Park Forest, Illinois. She lived most of her life in the Chicago area and lived in The Colony Texas for the past 20 years. Karen dedicated her life to raising her 3 daughters as only a superstar single mother could. Karen had a way of always making sure everyone in her family felt loved and special from her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. She was a giving soul who was always putting her family’s needs before her own. She guided her girls to be strong individual women. We know that you will continue to guide us as you spread your wings and fly high as our Angel. Over the years she worked in the service industry offerings drinks, an unforgettable smile, quick wit, and an ear willing to listen without judgement.
Karen is survived by daughters, Crystal Smithyman (Greg Blakely) of The Colony Texas, Barbie Smithyman (Jason Ciak) of Little Elm Texas, Lisa Smithyman (Jeremy Blake) of Pratt Kansas; brother, Bill Ingersoll (Patty) of Birmingham Alabama; 10 grandchildren, Kollyn, Preston, Haley, Nolan, Makayla, Chloe, McKenna, Camryn, Beckham and Brody; nephews, James and Kristopher Ingersoll; adoptive daughter, Tabitha Carlisle (Paul) and her 2nd family, The CJ’s crew.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ingersoll and son-in-law, Isai Contreras.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14th at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, 75013.
