Karen Rachal Shuler

Karen Lynn Shuler of Plano, Texas departed the physical world and passed into eternal rest on June 28, 2019 at the age of 59 after a brave two-year battle with cancer. She was born on July 22, 1959 to Furman A. “Joe” Rachal and Bertha Middlebrooks in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Family was of the utmost importance to Karen, and her love was evident whenever she spoke of them, and she included her friends in the realm of Family. Spirituality was a subject that she was always eager to discuss, all religions and philosophies were open to her, and she treated all believers and non-believers with the respect of the Golden Rule. Karen also loved to travel, with New Orleans and the history of the Cajun culture high on her lists of interests. All who were blessed to have known her will forever be changed by her love for them and joyous outlook on life.

Karen is survived by her sons, Steven Shuler, Jr. and wife, Veronica, of Aubrey, Texas, Jake Shuler and life partner, Denny Tedrow of Plano, Texas, Kevin Shuler and wife, Lacey, of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Ashley Shuler of Flower Mound, Texas; grandson, Steven “S.G.” Shuler III, of Aubrey, Texas; father, Furman A. “Joe” Rachal of Shreveport, Louisiana; mother, Bertha Middlebrooks of Bossier City, Louisiana; sisters Kim Phillips and husband, Dennis of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Pamela Rachal of West Monroe, Louisiana, Stacy Nunnelee and husband Chris, of Lantana, Texas; brother, Al Rachal of Tyler, Texas; and numerous other family members and loving friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her step-mother, Peggy Rachal.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2019, beginning at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family asks that everyone bring a colorful umbrella for a second-line parade to the pond on premises at the funeral home immediately following the service.
