JW Carpenter, Jr.

JW Carpenter, Jr., age 91 years and 166 days, passed away on March 24, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  

JW was born on October 10, 1934, in Lewisville, Texas as the first of five children to JW, Sr. and Loretta (Sonntag) Carpenter.  JW’s family relocated to Allen, Texas in 1938.  He graduated from Allen High School, and he attended Arlington State College in Arlington, Texas to study Civil Engineering.

JW served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving in Korea from 1952 through 1954.  

He was a member of the Baptist Church.  JW was a lifetime member of the Master Masons, member of the Shriner’s, The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, former Texas Ranger Foundation member and a lifetime charter member of the V.F.W. of Frisco, Texas.

JW was self-employed as a Contractor.  He was a bulldozer operator moving dirt for school building sites, ponds, sub-divisions and other projects all over Collin County.  He was a Soil Conservationist.

JW was preceded in death by his parents, JW and Loretta Carpenter, his wife Barbara Carpenter, his younger sister, Carrie Frances Boyd of Rowlett, Texas, his younger brother, Jerry Ray Carpenter of Allen, Texas, and his youngest sister Jane Catherine Meadows of Boerne, Texas.

JW is survived by his son, Jason Wallace Carpenter, granddaughter, Hailey Carpenter, sister, Audrey Jean Alexander, longtime companion, Bobbie Sonntag, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/jw-carpenter-jr. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Following the funeral, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service with Military Funeral Honors.  

The family will receive guests during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the funeral home.
