IN LOVING MEMORY

June A. McCann Stevens

Jun 01 1932 - Feb 04 2021

June A. McCann Stevens born, June Anna Spudich; passed away February 4, 2021 at 88 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Frances Spudich; first husband, Edward P McCann Sr; second husband, Wilbert Stevens; sister, Violet Lewis; brother, Herbert Spudich; and sister, Betty Emigh. June was the mother of Patricia Jones (Scott), Edward P McCann Jr (Monica), and Ronald McCann (Monica). Grandmother of Austin Jones (Kristin), Lauren McDonough, Andrew McCann, Kyla McCann, Caden McCann, and Tanner McCann. Great grandmother of Asher Jones, Avery McDonough, Reese Jones and Blakely McDonough.

She was born on June 1, 1932 in Braddock, Pennsylvania and grew up in Swissvale, Pennsylvania. June married Edward McCann and lived primarily in Brick, New Jersey through his passing and until moving to Ormond by the Sea, Florida, her dream.  She made Florida her home for many years eventually marrying Will Stevens and living in the home they built. While June loved Florida, she moved to McKinney Texas to be closer to family.

June was a devout Catholic who enjoyed attending mass at St Brendan’s while in Ormond Beach Florida and St Gabriel the Archangel while in McKinney Texas. She prayed the rosary every day and had a deep faith in God. Her faith always helped her push through ailments and challenges with an incredible fortitude; never giving up and always getting back up…an example to all.

June loved to give gifts to people who visited and no one ever left hungry. Providing food to friends and visitors was her love language. She had a green thumb especially for house plants and they brought life to her home and highlighted each room. June also loved to ballroom dance and she created many memories on the dance floor with her husband Will, dance partners, and friends. She had many opportunities to travel with Will where they explored across Europe, visited the Vatican (bucket list), Central America, Cruises, and trips all across the country. While June enjoyed traveling and the opportunities to see the world, she ultimately loved being home and that was where her heart was.

There was no doubt that June loved Florida, especially the ocean! She enjoyed seeing the ocean every chance she got and it never lost its draw. The ocean was like a big tender hug that was always there for her, it brought her so much joy, comfort, and peace. The ocean was her happy place and the family shared many memories walking on the beach, watching the waves, and going to Snack Jacks.

June enjoyed the great people at The Chateau where she lived in McKinney Texas her last three years. The Chateau, Monarch, and Legacy staffs who cared for her always displayed great love and a connection beyond their jobs. She also cared deeply for the many friends she made at The Chateau, they were a tight knit group. June was a social butterfly the moment she left her apartment and we could see her in her element being with friends during her time there.

Lastly, June loved her family especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. While there are many memories of trips to Florida, it was a blessing to have her closer to family in Texas and being closer in general for others to visit during her final years. She created so many new memories especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They lovingly called her "Miss Gram” and spending time with them brought great love and joy to her. We cherish the many memories during her life and she will be greatly missed by all.
