Dr. Julia Kyoung-Hi (Park) Kim

Dr. Julia Kyoung-Hi Park Kim of McKinney, Texas passed away December 1, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born March 26, 1931 to Mr. Kwan-Bong Park and Mrs. Kun-Ahn Roh Park in Korea. Julia spent her childhood growing up in Korea and attended Korea University College of Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD).  She went on to complete her Internship at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University Medical Center in Seoul, Korea as well as Residencies in Pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, Radiology at DC General Hospital, and Pediatric Hematology at the Children’s National Medical Center, both in Washington, DC.  In addition, Julia completed postdoctoral fellowships at DC General Hospital and the Children’s National Medical Center and also published many academic papers.  Julia became a licensed, board certified member of the American Medical Association and North Carolina Medical Society and worked in pediatrics at the Developmental Evaluation Clinic, East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.  She eventually opened and operated a very successful pediatric private practice in Kinston, North Carolina for many years.  In the latter part of her career, Julia became Chief of Developmental Pediatrics at the 121 Evacuation Hospital, US Army, Seoul, Korea as well as a Consulting Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Yonsei University Medical Center in Seoul, Korea.

Julia was married to Dr. Jung-Gun Kim and is survived by her family including Kyoung-Soon and Julie Kim of Acworth, Georgia, their children Terry Keeling of Waltham, Massachusetts and Nikki Kim of New York, New York, and Chandler Kim and Debbie Steele of McKinney, Texas.

Julia was a devoted mother, wife, and physician who loved children and going to the beach.  She treasured the time she spent with her family and was a source of limitless love, support, guidance, and inspiration.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, and she will be missed by all who knew her and whose lives were touched by her talents.
