Julia Va Loyce Jacoby

Julia Va Loyce Church Jacoby, 93, formerly of Allen, Texas passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Coppell, Texas. She was born March 10, 1925 to James Eli Church and Ola Susan (Harville) Church in Trousdale, Kansas. Julia moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when she was six months old. She attended school there and was a 1943 graduate of Will Rogers High School. Upon graduation, she began working for First National Bank. Julia attended the University of Tulsa for two years and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She went to work for Standolin Oil company before attending Oklahoma A & M to study architecture.  Julia met her husband Jim Jacoby on a blind date. They were married at Christ the King Catholic Church on December 31, 1949. Following their wedding they moved to Springfield, Missouri. Throughout their marriage they made several moves with Jim’s employment to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Dallas, Texas, Memphis, Tennessee and Houston, Texas.  The best part of Julia’s life were the blessings of her eight children.  

Julia was employed with John Karl Realtors in Clear Lake, Texas from 1975-1982.  Jim and Julia loved to travel and made a point to visit every state in the United States.  They also fulfilled a dream of visiting Rome, Italy and saw the Pope as well as going to Vienna and dancing the Viennese Waltz to the Vienna Boys Choir. Julia radiated with her love of family. She was known to be tiny but strong, sharp as a tack, quietly funny, and called her loved ones “sugar”.  

She is survived by her husband, Jim Jacoby of Frisco, Texas; daughters, Susie Tallent of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sherry Gullett and her husband, Don Gullett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Janey Fletcher and husband Rick Fletcher of Frisco, Texas and Julie Lackey and husband Derek Lackey of Coppell, Texas; sons, Jim Jacoby, Jr. and wife Kelli Jacoby of Sugarland, Texas, Dan Jacoby of Allen, Texas, Don Jacoby of Clear Lake, Texas and John Jacoby and wife, Monica also of Clear Lake, Texas; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. 

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ola Sue Church; siblings, Donald Church, Mary Louise Sesock, and Arnold Church. 

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas. A rosary is set for 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
