Julia Mae Gibson, a resident of Dallas, Texas, departed from this world on April 22, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on March 12, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the beloved daughter of Charles Stuart Brown and Jane (Hurst) Brown. Julia graduated from Mount Vernon High School in the Class of 1962. Her love of writing and education took her to Brigham Young University where she earned her Journalism degree in 1968. She continued her studies at the University of Texas, Arlington, receiving her Bachelor of Elementary Education. From 1969 to 1972, Julia proudly served her country in the United States Air Force.
On January 15, 1972, Julia married the love of her life, Dan Howard Gibson, in Redondo Beach, California. In addition to her role as a devoted wife and mother, Julia continued her education. In 1992 she graduated from Texas Women’s University with a Master of Library Sciences Degree. Julia’s love of education led her to teach in the Dallas Independent School District. Her kindness and dedication left lasting impacts on colleagues and students alike. Julia was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where her faith found strength and comfort.
Julia was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, a doting grandmother, a cherished great-grandmother, a beloved sister, and a loyal friend.
Julia is survived by her daughters, Amy Bellows (Will), of Richland Hills, Texas, Karen Gibson, of Dallas, Texas, and Kathleen Gibson of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Jason Bellows, Brennan Bellows, Brittany Bellows, and Benjamin Gibson; great grandchild Cinder Bellows; brothers, James Brown, and Robert Brown; sisters, Virginia Evans, and Helen Curry; and her beloved cat, “Sivad”.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dan Howard Gibson; parents, Charles and Jane; brothers, Charles Brown and Hugh Brown; and sisters, Ann Christensen, Colleen Brown, and Patricia Wilkinson.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Lakewood LDS Church, 1800 Bennett Ave, Dallas, Texas 75206.
