IN LOVING MEMORY

Julia Jean “JJ” Wootton

May 17 2011 - Jul 18 2024

Julia Jean “JJ” Wootton of McKinney, Texas, passed away on July 18, 2024, at the young age of 13.

Born to loving parents Brett Aaron Wootton and Susan Correll (Scallon) Wootton on May 17, 2011, in Frisco, Texas, as the first Wootton grandchild and newest Scallon baby, she instantly became the awe-inspiring love of her entire family.

Over time she became the big sister and protector of her little sister, Lillie Grace then two younger brothers, Aaron Augustus “Gus” and Marcus Fender, all of whom she loved dearly, even with the normal younger sibling irritations, spats, and squabbles.  She was always excited to spend time with her cousins, all 28 of them.  She loved arts and crafts with her Mimi and PawPaw, and spending time with her Nanny.  Laughter and love surrounded her and will remain wherever this family travels.

Julia attended Cockrill Middle School in McKinney, Texas where her teachers and classmates study, play, and grow together.  She was an AVID student and was chosen to be an AVID Helper to help her fellow students enjoy the program.  She was also a budding percussion star and played drums for the award-winning Cockrill Middle School Band.

Outside of school, she loved art, drawing and animation, travel adventures, pool parties, arts and crafts projects, and fun games. JJ’s favorite holiday was Halloween as she was an avid fan of historical haunted houses and places.  She found thrill in the creativity of costumes and mystery of the holiday.   She also enjoyed watching Troll Hunters, Steven Universe, and Gravity Falls.  She loved putting together Lego sets and has many completed pieces on display in her bedroom.  JJ loved anything chocolate, especially her mother’s “chip-chop” pancakes and “chip-chop” banana bread.

Her friends and neighbors could call on her at any time and formed bonds of friendship she valued and loved.  Together they enjoyed the latest movies, anime, comparing favorite “holey” jeans and cool t-shirts, hilarious internet pics and videos, or Instagram filters to make funny faces.

A beautiful young woman, JJ was taller than her mama, more quick-witted than her dad, and always happy to care for her younger siblings.  Her kind smile and big heart will be dearly missed.  Her absence is deeply felt by all those who knew and loved her.

Julia will always be loved and remembered by her parents, Brett and Susan Wootton; her little sister, Lillie Grace; brothers, Gus and Marcus; and a host of numerous loving family members and friends.
