IN LOVING MEMORY

Julia Ann Bell

Nov 08 1936 - Jan 09 2021

Julia Ann Haga Bell was born on November 8, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Louis John Haga and Elizabeth Alberta Skewes Haga. She passed peacefully on January 9, 2021 in Plano, Texas.

Julie had a life-long love of learning, singing and playing piano, being out in nature and making people laugh and smile.  From early childhood, she found joy in colorful flowers and patterns, relishing nature's beauty and reflecting it in many types of art; all bright and creative with never a straight line.  She loved a good adventure, whether it was camping and fishing or living in different countries.  She never stopped learning- attending 3 different universities, learning multiple languages, and mastering career fields from secretary to university administrator to bilingual teacher.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who found happiness in sharing the simple and kind things in life, and giving wisdom as she understood it.

After graduating from high school in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Julia attended the University of Michigan, then transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a BA in 1958. While at OU she met Larry Afton Bell, and they were married on December 29, 1958 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  During their 48 year marriage, they raised 4 children while living in Illinois, Argentina, Mexico, Wisconsin, Texas and Oklahoma.  Julia also attended the University of Texas at Dallas and received her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Development.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Later Day Saints.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Raymond (Tony) of Seattle, Washington; daughter, Laura Freer (Lance) of Whitewright, Texas; son, David Bell (Ramona) of Colleyville, Texas; grandchildren, Kevin and Molly Raymond; Logan, Leland and Lucas Freer; James Hunter, and Rosie, Toby, Kara(Sarah) Jensen, and Mercedes; sisters, Polly Ingram, Gynt Clifford, Andrea Allison; and great-grandchild, Evelyn Hunter. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Larry Bell; daughter, Cathy Bell; and sister, Betty Harvey.

Memorial Services will be held 2PM February 6, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, Whitewright, TX 75491.

She was cremated as were her wishes. She will be interred at a later date next to her husband Larry and daughter Cathy in Ochiltree Cemetery, Perryton, Texas.
