Judy Gwen Simpson

Judy Gwen Ayres Simpson was born on November 14, 1942 at Bells, Texas to Ned Ayres and Willie Lena Reynolds Ayres. She passed away peacefully at her home on November 12, 2020 at the age of 77 years.

Judy married the love of her life, Milton Barker Simpson on December 11, 1959 in Kentuckytown, Texas. She was a faithful long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitewright. Judy served the last 6 years as the church council secretary, also served as co-chair of Women’s Serving Together, and volunteered for VBS and other children’s ministries. She was also a very active member of ‘The Widders’.

Judy always had a smile and was quick to greet you with a hug whenever you crossed her path. She is loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Simpson and his wife Kim of Melissa, David Simpson of Whitewright; her grandchildren, Zach, Baileigh ,Val, Aly and Kaitlyn; her great-grandson, Ameron; her brother, Jack Ayres and his wife Nelda of Austin; her sister-in-law, Gertrude Ayres of Denison. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Milton; and her brothers, Marc (Jane) and Jim.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on December 5, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church located in Whitewright, Texas. Rev. Doyle Henderson will officiate. She will be inurned at a later date next to Milton at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas.

A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00PM on December 5, 2020 at the church.
