IN LOVING MEMORY

Judson Franklin Simkins

Oct 03 1932 - Jan 16 2024

Judson Franklin Simkins passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, in Allen, Texas at the age of 91.

He was the youngest of six children born to Charlie and Zaola Simkins. The family made their way from the Philippines to California where he was born on the third of October.

Ultimately the family settled in Hughes Springs, Texas. Following graduation from high school, his goal was to not only serve his country, but to create a better future and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War where he was stationed on the West Coast and islands in the Pacific. He earned National Defense, Korean Service, United Nations and Good Conduct medals.

After serving his country, Judson’s determination drove him to continue his education utilizing the country’s GI bill to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from North Texas State College (University of North Texas). He would later advance his education at Southern Methodist University’s graduate school of banking.

Shortly after his time at North Texas, he met and married Necia, subsequently had two daughters, and lived in the Allen/Lucas area.

Judson’s career spanned across banking, finance and government at a number of institutions until his retirement from the United States Small Business Administration.

He was a member of First Christian Church and took pride in giving back to his community by volunteering at the Community Christian Care Center during his retirement. He was an active member of the professional organization, Toastmasters, and enjoyed sailing, swimming, and racquetball. He loved spending time with family, including his grandson, and enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with his wife.

Judson is survived by his wife, Necia Simkins; daughter, Susan Simkins McConnell (Mark); daughter, Jennifer Killeen (Shaun); grandson, James; and loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Zaola Simkins and his siblings Leonard, Florine, Elma, Vernon and Gene.

The family would like to express their immense gratitude to the caregivers of Vitality Texas Court for the care and comfort they have provided Judson and his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Wylie Community Christian Care Center and Foundation for Allen Schools.
