Judith Corkins Matthews McLain

Judith Corkins Matthews McLain, age 82, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020.  She was born on March 6, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Mary Emma (Lipps) and Clifford Fred Corkins.  Judith was blessed with one daughter and four boys.  She obtained her nursing degree in 1969 from Southeast Missouri State University, and worked a variety of positions in Missouri, Illinois and Texas: as a hospital nurse, home health nurse, hospice nurse, and nursing home director and regional director.  Judith married Roger W. McLain in Frisco on February 15, 2000.

Judy enjoyed golf, fishing, and quilting.  She had an embroidery machine to make great gifts for her family.  After retirement in 2003, Judy took classes to become a master gardener.  Judy was very accomplished at her many endeavors and had a unique sense of humor.  She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  Judy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Judith is survived by her daughter, Karen (Matthews) Fischer and her husband, Ronnie, of The Colony, Texas, Brian Matthews and his wife, Karen, of Scott City, Missouri, Kevin Matthews and his wife, Aileen, of Florence, Kentucky, Barry Matthews of Euless, Texas, and Neil Matthews and his wife, Diana, of Frisco, Texas; twelve (12) grandchildren; thirteen (13) great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Fisher and her husband, Vince, of Cobden, Illinois; and three (3) nieces and a (1) nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Roger W. McLain on April 17, 2016.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1913 Ritter Drive, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, officiated by Father Rick Jones, on Monday, June 1, 2020, at 10:30 a.m.  Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
