IN LOVING MEMORY

Juanita Jewel McGahan

Jan 24 1940 - Sep 06 2023

Juanita Jewel McGahan of Princeton, Texas passed away September 6, 2023 at the age of 83.  She was born on January 24, 1940 to Arnold Andrew Gunstanson and Jewel (Mitchell) Gunstanson in Brownsboro, Texas.  Juanita spent her school years working with her family in the cotton fields. She always wanted to go to school, and she loved to learn.  Juanita was an avid reader, and she did go back and receive her high school equivalency diploma from Princeton ISD in 1982.  She was also a skilled seamstress and she worked at Country Cleaners and Johnson Sewing Factory for many years.

Juanita married James Yancy McGahan on July 10, 1957.  She fiercely loved her children and grandchildren.  Juanita would get up all hours of the night and get on her knees in prayer for whoever God put on her heart.  She taught Sunday school in her younger years because she had such a big heart for children.  Juanita led countless people to the Lord because she wanted everyone to have the love of Jesus the way she did.  She attended Heaven Habor Church in Royse City, Texas.  Juanita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, James McGahan of Princeton, Texas; sons, James Wesley McGahan and wife, Tamy and Joe Douglas McGahan and wife, Kathy; five granddaughters; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nelda Maxwell; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and one sister.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Heaven’s Harbor, 19759 FM 2755, Royse City, Texas 75189.
