J Ralph Thompson passed away March 24, 2022 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 79. He was born January 18, 1943 to Melvin Adlai and Edith Annon (Goodwin) Thompson in San Angelo, Texas.
Ralph graduated from Central High School in San Angelo, Texas in 1961. He married Bobbe Lowe February 15, 1964 in San Angelo, Texas. Ralph attended San Angelo College before graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington where he received his bachelor’s degree. He went on to work for IBM, Control Data, and XP Systems.
Ralph was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and worshipped at the Church of Christ on McDermott Road for over 20 years. He was a board member of the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra, a retired member of the Allen Symphony Chorus, an active participant with the Sons of the American Revolution and McKinney Senior Center for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbe Thompson; daughter, Jennifer Hanis and husband, Mark; son, Jason Thompson and wife, Rachel; grandchildren, Trey Hanis, Sarah Hanis, Chase Thompson, Ella Thompson, and Jackson Thompson; siblings, Lawrence Thompson and wife, Helen, Leonard Thompson and wife, Jeanine, Ruth Spruell, Robert Thompson and wife, Debra, Harold Thompson, and wife Jeannie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Edith Thompson, siblings, Martha Pearl Kirby, Mary Helen Boothe, David Thompson, and Charles Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Church of Christ on McDermott Road in Plano, Texas. Following the service a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas for interment. The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brighter Together building fund at The Church of Christ on McDermott Road.
