Joyce Standley, 88, was Bob’s yellow rose of Texas. She was a classy lady with style and grace. She joined her beloved husband and other dear family members in a joyous, heavenly reunion Monday evening!
She was born in Stonewall, Oklahoma in the family home on the farm. She learned to work hard at a young age and incorporated that skill for the rest of her life. She taught her family, “with prayer, where there’s a will there’s a way.” Her mantra was, with God nothing is impossible.
Education was very important to her. She went back to college in her 40’s and received her degree in floral design. In her 60’s she received her Master Floral license. She taught floral design at Brookhaven college for many years.
She retired from her professional business as a Master Florist at 86, though she continued to work baking bread in her daughter’s bake shop. She loved to share her passion of floral design by donating weekly arrangements to the Sabbath meetings in her local church for over 40 years. She also regularly taught the youth how to make boutineers, corsages, and other arrangements.
Her artistic ability with flowers caused any passerby to stop in awe and admire God’s creations expressed through her. She radiated light and love to all around her! She loved to serve and was always giving. She cherished her role as daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, grandmother, and great grandmother. She truly had a Christlike love for all and adopted everyone into her family. She loved to be known as the, “Grandma of the Ward” at her local church.
Family was the most important thing in the world to her, next to her powerful faith in God.
