Joyce J. "Nubbin" (Spurgin) Stevens of Gordonville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at the age of 77. She was born in Allen, Texas, on January 18, 1943, to Artie Pearl (Mullins) and Garnet (John) Lee Spurgin. Joyce married the love of her life, Billy Clay Stevens, in Celina, Texas, on August 7, 1960, and they were blessed with two children. They enjoyed almost sixty wonderful years of marriage; August 7th would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. Joyce worked in the insurance claims business and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Celina, Texas. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Joyce will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Joyce is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Stevens; her grandson, Gene Stevens and his wife, Angela; her granddaughter, Jenha Mercatoris and her husband, Shawn; her great-grandchildren, Chance Stevens , Sam Stevens, Rebecca Stevens, Ryder Stevens and Hayley Stevens; her brothers, Jackie Spurgin and his wife, Margaret of McKinney, Texas Gary Spurgin and his wife, Donna of Aubrey, Texas and Mike Spurgin of Melissa Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Elaine Stevens; her son, Ricky Oliver Stevens; her sister, Betty Sue (Powell) Cordes; her brother, Bobby Spurgin; and her parents, Artie and Garnet (John) Spurgin.
The memorial service will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, 109 S. Oklahoma, Celina, Texas, on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Allen Pate will officiate.
