Joyce Bernice Oney, 81, of McKinney, Texas, passed away at home on July 23, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 14, 1941, to Elbert and Glada Sharp in Spokane, Washington.
Joyce, affectionately known as Nana, had enough love to happily share with her 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. It warmed her heart to send birthday cards, without fail, to each one of them for every year. So much so that two days before she passed away, she made sure all the July cards were sent. Joyce may have been survived by her children, but she was a mother to so many more. If you found yourself under her roof, you found yourself calling her Mom. She was not limited to loving just the people around her either, as she always held her fur baby, Maggie, close to her heart, both figuratively and literally. Her home may have been small, but her heart was big enough for all who came into her life. She decorated her life with her love of flowers, especially Roses and Crepe Myrtles, and was a walking, talking botany dictionary.
Joyce was a graduate of TSTI in Amarillo with an associate degree in Childhood Development.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda McAfee and husband, Steve of Lakeland, Florida, Karla Godwin of Amarillo, Texas, and Robin Berger and husband, Stan of McKinney, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Godwin; husband, Joe Bill Oney; and children, Ramona Scott and Stephen Godwin.
