IN LOVING MEMORY

Josh Charbonneau

Mar 31 2005 - Feb 08 2022

Josh Charbonneau of Frisco, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2022. Josh is survived by his parents, Shannon and Paul; maternal grandparents, Grammy Mary Forguson; Poppy Wendall & Meemie Donna Ritz; Papa Bill & Grandma Karen Smith, and Aunt Erica Cederquist; Aunt Janet & Aunt Karen; a multitude of loving cousins and extended family; and his supportive chosen family at Genesis Metro Church and Fuse Student Ministry. Josh is preceded in death by Paternal Grandparents Joanne & F. Wayne Charbonneau.

Josh was born on March 31, 2005; he would have been 17 this year. He was a senior at Lone Star High School, on track to graduate a year early with a tenacity for learning, consistently excelling in his studies, and seizing every opportunity to participate in advanced courses. His academic goals included attending the University of Pennsylvania to double major in Engineering and Finance, with a dream to work in aeronautics and interplanetary travel.

Josh loved many things:

He loved the Marvel Universe, Spiderman, and Star Wars; He loved his cats Flick & Jelly; He loved music, especially worship music. He loved playing the piano, and he played it constantly, his current favorite song being Homecoming by Bethel Music.

Josh loved people. He was fiercely loyal and big on kindness. He saw the person who was alone and made sure they didn’t stay that way. He had a multitude of friends, got along with everyone, displaying humility in a way that made people want to be around him. He had many close friendships that centered around everything from growing closer to God, to great jams to learn on the piano, to commentary on the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett. Josh was one of those people who was easy to be around; an infectious person with a great gift for making the room fun and happy.

Josh loved his church. He and his family have attended, served, loved, and been loved at Genesis Metro Church nearly his entire life. Josh shared his musical talents with the Fuse Worship Band, while inviting countless friends to join him on Wednesday nights to experience community and a place to belong. He served selflessly; He found hope, he found friendships, he found fun, he found life-change at church.

Josh loved kids, and kids loved him. He taught preschoolers the love of Jesus on Sunday mornings for six years, engaging kids through stories, laughter, and songs. His fellow teachers, adults and fellow students alike, learned how to love kids through Josh’s example.

Josh loved Jesus. He walked through this life with Him. Josh drew strength and courage from God. Josh’s life verse is Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

On both his best days and his most difficult days, Josh knew he was loved. Loved by God, his church, and his family.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to give a memoriam in Josh's name, we would love to help continue the fight on mental illness. Please direct any gifts to Real Life Counseling, Patrice Dunn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2:00pm at Genesis Metro Church, 9750 John W. Elliott Dr., Frisco, Texas. A live stream will be available: www.forthe107.org.
