Joseph Watestel Braswell was born on September 25, 1928, to William Daniel Braswell and Lena Rogers Braswell in Blue Ridge, Texas and passed away on March 20, 2022, in McKinney Texas. He attended Blue Ridge schools and graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1945. He entered the U.S. Air Force after graduation where he served honorably and participated in the Berlin air lift at the close of World War 2. After completing his duty with the air force, he married Billie Ruth Mounger in 1949. He worked for the Chance Vogt Aircraft corp. after which he became associated with the Sherwin Williams Co. in 1956 in McKinney, Texas and remained with that company for several years before becoming a partner with Hillcrest Floors in Dallas. Later becoming a subcontractor for Texaco Co. in association with the late Phillip Foley of Farmersville.
Being a farm boy at heart, he moved back to McKinney in 1993 and purchased acreage, built a home and started a small farming operation in addition to his contracting. He attended to his cattle and lived the country life until the death of his beloved Billie Ruth in 2013. After a couple of years, he and Son Guy got together and moved to Fannin County where they enlarged their farming operation. He again lived the country life until son Guy passed away in 2019.
He lived a full life and was loved by countless friends and relatives. He was the last surviving member of 12 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by wife Billie Ruth, son Guy and 2 infant babies Lisa and Randy. He is survived by Grandson Joseph Kevin, wife Shandy, and 2 great grandsons Tanner and Landen. Brother-in-law Cameron (Josh), wife Glenda as well as Susan, Sean, and Joshua. Also survived by numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews from both sides of his family.
Interment will be in IOOF cemetery in Farmersville next to Billie Ruth and a private memorial service will be held at a yet to be determined date.
